Nuclear Decomissioning

Nuclear Decomissioning Management of Safety & Quality Assurance

Several nuclear reactors has been dismantled or are going under dismantling processaround the world.

Nations born from Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union and Former Yugoslavia up to Fukushima in Japan, are examples of Countries that are managing the nuclear power plant dismantling process.

We work on the strategy for how each site will be decommissioned and restored for an alternative use.

GOLDWATER Italian Headquarter is located in Latina , a small Province not so far fromRome where insisting two Nuclear Power Plant, the Borgo Sabotino Plant – Consisting of one 153 MWe Magnox reactor, it operated from 1963 until 1987 and the Garigliano Plant – Consisting of one 150MWe BWR – boiling water reactor, it operated from 1964 until 1982.

Italy started to produce nuclear energy in the early 1960s, but all plants were closed by 1990 following the Italian nuclear power referendum in year 1987 after the Chernobyl’s Disaster. The Chernobyl accident in 1986 was the result of a flawed reactor design that was operated with inadequately trained personnel.

From the 1990 Italian Authority start for the decommissioning program. This decision started the Decommissioning’s Era, a unique opportunity to develop Knowledge and Capabilities in such critical matter.
